Demam berdarah dengue (DBD) adalah penyakit akut yang disebabkan oleh virus dengue dan nyamuk Aedes aegypti berperan sebagai vektor utama. Penyakit DBD hingga saat ini masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global dan upaya pengendalian vektor DBD salah satunya adalah dengan cara memutus siklus hidup nyamuk pada stadium larva. Pemberantasan stadium larva dapat dilakukan secara hayati dan kimia. Salah satu penggunaan zat kimia alami adalah yang berasal dari tumbuhan seperti kemangi (Ocimum sanctum Linn). TujuanPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak etanol 96% daun kemangi terhadap larva instar III Ae. Aegypti serta mengetahui kadar LC 50 & LC 90 . MetodePenelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium. Pengujian dilakukan dengan konsentrasi 2500 ppm, 2000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 1000 ppm dan 500 ppm. Kontrol negatif adalah Tween 20 dan kontrol positif Temefos. Tiap konsentrasi dilakukan lima kali ulangan. Angka mortalitas dihitung setelah 24 jam pengamatan. Analisis data menggunakan uji Kruskals Wallis dan analisis Probit untuk menentukan LC 50 dan LC 90 . HasilHasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun kemangi dapat membunuh larva instar III Ae. Aegypti sampai 90,4% pada dosis 2500 ppm dan terdapat perbedaan dengan kontrol (nilai p<0,05). Nilai LC 50 dan LC 90 ekstrak etanol daun kemangi berturur turut adalah sebesar1290,39 ppm dan 3173,53 ppm. KesimpulanEkstrak etanol daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum Linn) memiliki efek larvisida terhadap larva instar III Ae. aegypti.
