An Experimental Study About Seam Performance of Denim Fabrics AbstractIn this study, denim fabrics four different constructions were sewn with two different sewing thread and two different stitch densities per centimeter using sewing needle 110/18 number, seam strength tests were performed to the fabrics. L & M sewability tests were performed to the same fabrics. Results of seam performance tests were compared with each other. When yarn thickness and density per centimeter increase, needle penetration force increase so sewability of fabrics is getting difficult. When stitch density per centimeter of fabrics in weft and warp directions increases, seam strength increases, too. When seam strength of the samples are compared; due to strength of the sewing thread Gral is higher than the sewing thread Epic seam strength of all samples sewn with the sewing thread Gral were higher than seam strength of the samples sewn with sewing thread Epic.
The human body is known as a thermodynamic system that interacts with the environment. Wetting and drying events are essential factors that affecting the physiological comfort of clothes and depending on many parameters such as fiber type, yarn structure, knitting structure, fabric thickness, or finishing processes etc. For removing the sweat quickly and keep the body dry, knowing wetting and drying behavior of textiles is important in terms of clothing comfort. In this experimental research, cotton and tencel fibers are used which can be known as comfort fibers. By using the yarns produced from these fibers, single jersey knitted fabric surfaces have been formed in the circular knitting machine. The obtained fabrics are colored by digital printing method. Fabrics were tested before and after digital printing because of measuring the effect of digital printing on drying behavior. Interaction of samples with water were analyzed by testing out transfer capillary wetting ability test and drying time determination. It was observed that, the time-dependent rate of drying-thus the mass loss-and transfer capillary wetting ability were consistent with the results found in the literature.
AbstractIn this study, 100% polyester woven fabrics which were undyed by applying pre-treatment were applied to dyeing processes with dyeing baths containing different proportions of boric compounds. Boric acid and borax decahydrate chemicals in solution were prepared %5, %10 and %15 according to weight of samples. Polyester samples were dyed on the principle of high temperature with these dyeing soltutions. The determination of flame retardancy of the samples was performed with respect to limiting oxygen index (LOI) and its results were evaluated.
