The electromagnetic scattering by a cylindrical Luneberg lens with a conducting reflector is analyzed by using the point matching method. The high accuracy of the point matching method is obtained from the convergence property of the total scattering cross-section versus matrix size. It is found that the scattering pattern has a backscattered field approximately several times that of a circular cylinder of the same radius. The radar cross-section versus incident angle is illustrated, whose figure has the relatively wide conical viewing angles. It is also found that the radar cross-section becomes relatively large as the radius of the cylinder increases.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
