RESUMOO objetivo do estudo foi verificar se as concentrações de glicose e ácidos graxos livres (AGL) sofrem modificações após um programa de treinamento de 12 semanas sem pausa e com pausa de três, seis e nove dias em ratos Wistar submetidos a natação. Foram utilizados 57 animais, divididos aleatoriamente em grupo sedentário (GS), treinado (GT), destreinado três dias (GD3), destreinado seis dias (GD6) e destreinado nove dias (GD9). Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre os grupos em relação à glicose, assim como na concentração de AGL INTRODUÇÃOO padrão de mobilização de substratos energéticos no exercício pode ser caracterizado como uma seqüência de três fases, cujos substratos energéticos predominantes são o glicogênio muscular, a glicose e os ácidos graxos livres (AGL) circulantes (BURKE; GOLLIER; BEASLEY; DAVIS; FICKER; HEELEY., 1995).Uma das metas mais importantes para os atletas é conseguir, através da dieta diária, prover ao músculo substratos para "alimentar" o programa de treinamento. A gordura corporal e os estoques de carboidratos liberam as maiores fontes de energia para o exercício. Enquanto fontes de gorduras (AGL derivadas do tecido adiposo e triglicérides intramusculares) são relativamente abundantes; fontes de carboidratos (glicose plasmática derivada do fígado ou da ingestão diária de carboidratos, e estoques de glicogênio muscular) são limitadas (COYLE, 2004). De fato, a disponibilidade de carboidratos como substrato para o músculo e para o sistema nervoso central torna-se um fator limitante na performance de sessões prolongadas (>90 minutos) de exercícios submáximo ou intermitente de alta intensidade.A produção hepática de glicose pode aumentar em até cinco vezes durante o exercício em relação à condição de repouso (WAHREN; FELIG; AHLBORG; JORFELDT, 1971). Grande parte desta produção ocorre nos instantes iniciais do exercício via glicogenólise, passando a predominar a gliconeogênese à medida que o exercício prossegue (McARDLE;
RESUMOAs provas de canoagem slalom são caracterizadas por descidas de alta intensidade em rios e corredeiras, sendo valores elevados de frequência cardíaca (FC) observados nessa modalidade. Entretanto, dados acerca da variabilidade de FC (VFC) e efeitos do treinamento sobre esse parâmetro ainda não foram investigados. Desse modo, o objetivo do estudo foi analisar a partir da VFC de canoístas slalom, os efeitos de sete semanas de treinamento monitorado sobre a modulação autonômica da FC. Foram avaliados seis canoístas antes e após sete semanas de treinamento. A FC e intervalos R-R foram captados por um período de 15 min, com atletas em repouso na postura sentada. A VFC foi analisada no domínio do tempo. O treinamento foi realizado em seis sessões semanais de aproximadamente 2 hs/dia. Os valores obtidos nas condições pré e pós-treinamento, mostram predomínio parassimpático na modulação de FC sem diferenças significantes entre seus índices. O monitoramento do treinamento revelou que apenas a 3ª semana de treinamento apresentou valores superiores quando comparada às demais, sendo a VFC não alterada nesse período. De acordo com os resultados, o grupo de canoístas slalom apresenta predominância parassimpática referente à modulação autonômica da FC, que não foi modificada após sete semanas de treinamento.Palavras-Chave: Treinamento; Frequência cardíaca; Canoagem slalom.
