Die Widerstandserhöhung eines Elektronenleiters im transversalen Magnetfeld hat zwei Ursachen: Abnahme der Trägerbeweglichkeit (physikalischer Widerstandseffekt) und Ablenkung der Strombahnen (geometrischer Widerstandseffekt). Für rechteckige Halbleiterplatten wird der Geometrieanteil der Widerstandserhöhung durch Lösung des Randwertproblems einer stromdurchflossenen Platte im transversalen Magnetfeld berechnet. Die Methode der konformen Abbildung führt für den Widerstand auf einen Integralausdruck, der für kleine und große Hall-Winkel Θ entwickelt wird. Der Geometrieeinfluß auf die Widerstandserhöhung ist für kleine Magnetfelder quadratisch in Θ, für große Magnetfelder und endliche Seitenverhältnisse der rechteckförmigen Platten dagegen stets linear in tg Θ. Das Übergangsgebiet zwischen kleinen und großen Hall-Winkeln wird durch numerische Auswertung des Integralausdruckes erschlossen. Für den Spezialfall quadratischer Platten wird die Feldabhängigkeit des Widerstandes durch eine für alle Θ gültige elementare Funktion beschrieben.
