Next generation sequencing (NGS) has become one of the key methods in todays life science research. It facilitates the identification of novel species, as well as characterization of samples drawn from complex ecosystems all over the world. Here, we demonstrate the potential of NGS for the identification of industrially relevant gene clusters from single microbial species to complete characterization of pathways facilitated by complex microbial communities as shown for biogas synthesis
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
