Zusammenfassung
Wie haben die Veränderungen beim Zugang zu elektronischen Fachzeitschriften die Forschungserfahrung und Wahrnehmung der Forschenden bezüglich ihrer Universitätsbibliothek beeinflusst? Welche Strategien wenden Forschende an, um sich Zugang zu den betreffenden Inhalten zu verschaffen? Wie können Bibliotheken diese Prozesse analysieren und bewerten? Die Beantwortung dieser Fragen ist nicht nur grundlegend für eine fachspezifische bzw. fachübergreifende Ausgestaltung von Serviceangeboten im Bereich Open Access, sondern auch für das Selbstverständnis von Universitätsbibliotheken als Partnerinnen von Forschung und Lehre. Die Autorinnen und Autoren berichten in Form eines Werkstattberichts über die Durchführung einer qualitativen Studie in Kooperation mit Ithaka S+R sowie die Impulse, die sie für ihre bibliothekarische Arbeit daraus mitgenommen haben.

Wie verschaffen sich Forschende Zugang zu Quellen, wenn der Zugriff auf etablierte Informationsangebote wegen Kündigung von Rahmenverträgen nicht mehr gewährleistet ist? Dieser Frage ging die qualitative Interview-Studie „Cancelling the Big Deal“ nach, die von der US-amerikanischen Not-For-Profit Forschungsagentur Ithaka S+R in Kooperation mit elf Universitätsbibliotheken in den USA und in Deutschland durchgeführt wurde. Neben der Kurzvorstellung der zentralen Ergebnisse resümiert das Team der Universitätsbibliothek der Freien Universität Berlin im folgenden auch Erfahrungen aus der Projektbeteiligung hinsichtlich der internationalen Zusammenarbeit, der Stärkung von bibliothekarischer Nutzungsforschung und der „Liaison“-Arbeit mit Forschenden.
