ZusammenfassungDie vorliegende Falldokumentation beschreibt den Umgang mit Atemnot in der präklinischen Notfallmedizin. Das Symptom „Atemnot“ ist präklinisch häufig und tritt im Zusammenhang mit diversen unterschiedlichen Krankheitsbildern auf. Dies stellt das Rettungsdienstteam aufgrund von limitierten diagnostischen und therapeutischen Mitteln vor Herausforderungen. Anhand des folgenden Falls wird ein mögliches Vorgehen bei Atemnot mit respiratorischer Dekompensation beschrieben. Eine Möglichkeit, präklinisch eine drohende Intubation zu vermeiden oder hinauszuzögern, ist der Einsatz einer nicht invasiven Beatmung (Noninvasive Ventilation, NIV). In der S3-Leitlinie von 2015 wird die Bedeutung eines möglichst frühen Beginns einer NIV-Therapie dargelegt.
