THATan antifreeze of superior qualities might be developed by mixing methanol and ethylene glycol, two of the most widely used antifreeze materials, seems apparent. The use of methanol would lower the cost and the glycol would lower the volatility of the methanol. Both methanol and glycol produce only small increases in viscosity (S) when added to water and hence permit nearly normal radiator circulation and heat transfer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
