Cet article traite d’une étude de cas réalisée dans le cadre d’une recherche-action en milieu communautaire au Québec. Cette étude a pour objet une démarche autobiographique en petit groupe menée avec des jeunes hommes marginalisés sur les thèmes de la masculinité et de la paternité. La démarche est discutée à partir du concept d’accompagnement éducatif afin de dégager une analyse critique des pratiques d’intervention sociale dites de proximité. Trois limites et enjeux éthiques liés à la proximité sont identifiés et discutés : la séduction, la juste distance et les limites des activités informelles.
