En éducation, la transition de la formation à la pratique professionnelle demeure un phénomène complexe. Nous avons donc entrepris de tester un modèle de l’insertion professionnelle en enseignement inspiré de celui de Bronfenbrenner. Ce modèle situe le novice au centre de systèmes concentriques et a inspiré six hypothèses que nous avons testées. Trois institutions ont pris part à ce projet, soit les HEP BEJUNE, de Fribourg et du Valais. Un échantillon de 186 novices a répondu à un questionnaire au printemps 2006. La modélisation d’équations structurelles a permis de tester les relations entre des variables touchant à la perception de compétence, aux conditions de travail, à la formation initiale et au succès perçu de l’insertion. Nos résultats soulignent l’importance des conditions à l’embauche et de la satisfaction au travail sur la perception du succès de l’insertion et l’engagement à l’école.
De nombreuses enquêtes sociologiques et psychosociales ont souligné l’implication de l’école dans la discrimination d’élèves issus des milieux sociaux vulnérables. Depuis la célèbre étude de Rosenthal et Jacobson (1971), elles montrent que les attentes du maître impactent son jugement ce qui, de fait, contribue à la disqualification plus particulière des élèves dont la réussite n’est pas réellement attendue. Pour les futurs enseignants en formation, il est difficile de percevoir que leurs jugements sont biaisés par leurs propres attentes en lien avec des croyances qui renforcent et pérennisent les processus de discrimination. Cet article présente les résultats d’un exercice mené avec les étudiants sur le modèle de la recherche de Chryssochoou, Picard et Pronine (1998). Si seuls les prénoms et la profession attribués aux parents de ces élèves diffèrent d’une vignette à l’autre, les résultats montrent une tendance interprétative de la difficulté scolaire en lien avec l’origine sociale.
Enseignant·e·s, formatrice et formateurs d’enseignant·e·s des degrés secondaires, nous partageons avec nos étudiant·e·s une unité de formation intitulée Pratiques pédagogiques guidées. Cette dernière invite la soixantaine de participant·e·s répartis en quatre groupes à anticiper, planifier et pratiquer leur enseignement de façon diversifiée en fonction du contexte (plan d’études, élèves, locaux, horaire, temps à disposition, …). Après avoir animé cette unité de formation durant plusieurs années, l’idée est venue de publier un ouvrage qui s’adresse aux enseignantes et enseignants des degrés secondaires, aux futurs enseignant·e·s et à toute personne s’intéressant aux multiples manières d’enseigner.
Dans un contexte où l’injonction à l’inclusion peine à se concrétiser, nos recherches nous ont rendus témoins du désarroi d’enseignants qui tentent de modifier les pratiques pour favoriser une école plus inclusive. S’inscrivant dans une approche ethnographique, notre écoute, de ce que disent ces enseignants de leurs difficultés relationnelles au quotidien de la salle des maîtres, nous a surpris par les similitudes des difficultés auxquelles ils font face à différents niveaux des systèmes scolaires suisses et québécois. Que ce soit d’un côté ou de l’autre de l’Atlantique, trois points de convergences émergent de l’analyse de nos entretiens : un sentiment d’isolement ; l’utilisation de stratégies de protection des liens professionnels et l’impact du leadership de la direction sur la culture du lieu scolaire.
