El libro reúne una serie de trabajos que surgen de las actividades que se desarrollan en el marco de la Red Latinoamericana para el Estudio de Conflictos Ambientales (Red CoLCA). Los diferentes capítulos fueron desarrollados en un intercambio entre los autores y autoras y los editores para dar cuenta de la diversidad de conflictos que acontecen en Latinoamérica, tomando estudios de caso de Argentina, Brasil, Colombia y México. A través de ellos se reflexiona en profundidad respecto a las causas que los originan, su complejidad en términos de actores e intereses involucrados y su correlato en impactos sociales, culturales, económicos, políticos y ecológicos. Fiel al espíritu que se persigue en la Red CoLCA, en sus trabajos los autores y las autoras analizan y ponen en discusión la puja de racionalidades y de sentido que involucran los conflictos, su productividad social, institucional y política y las desigualdades que se dan a la hora de tener que afrontar los impactos tanto positivos como negativos de las actividades que los originan.
