RESUMENEl escultor y entallador Juan de Villoldo, vinculado presumiblemente a una familia de artistas activa en Castilla en el último tercio del siglo XVI, se encarga, en 1586, de fabricar los retablos mayores de las iglesias parroquiales de Santiago de Catasós y San Xoán de Vilanova, pertenecientes al municipio pontevedrés de Lalín. Para ello maneja un diseño que le habían solicitado los feligreses del primero de los curatos. Dicha traza muestra el alzado de un retablo que aglutina buena parte de los distintivos de la corriente clasicista. A través de ella se evidencia su impericia en la práctica del dibujo y su inadaptación a esta nueva tendencia estética, puesto que usa elementos arquitectónicos que, como la columna abalaustrada, ya no se emplean en los últimos decenios de la referida centuria.
Resumen La presente investigación tiene por objeto el estudio del retablo mayor de la iglesia parroquial de Santa Baia de Vedra, perteneciente a la archidiócesis de Santiago de Compostela, una de los mejores obras de madera policromada del Barroco gallego, ejecutada por Manuel de Leis hacia 1758. La estructura y el aparato ornamental acusan la influencia de los dos grandes maestros de la Galicia del siglo XVIII, Fernando de Casas y Novoa y Simón Rodríguez, y de los tratados de arquitectura. Una parte de la imaginería se esculpe para este retablo y otra proviene de etapas anteriores. La primera policromía, encomendada a Andrés Cardama, no se administra hasta un siglo después, en 1865. Algunhas imaxes escúlpense para este retablo e outras pertencen a etapas anteriores. A primeira policromía, encomendada a Andrés Cardama, non se administra ata un século máis tarde, en 1865.
En el presente trabajo se estudian los rasgos arquitectónicos de la capilla de Santa Liberata de Baiona, una construcción barroca promovida por la corporación municipal con el beneplácito del obispo Anselmo Gómez de la Torre y la participación económica de la sociedad civil y eclesiástica de la diócesis de Tui y del resto de Galicia. Dicho análisis sirve de pretexto para verificar la influencia que ha tenido en su alzado el Arte y uso de architectura de fray Lorenzo de San Nicolás, teniendo en cuenta que su tracista, José Domínguez Bugarín, poseía un ejemplar del libro del tratadista agustino.
This paper addresses the artistic endowment of the Conception Chapel in Mondoñedo Cathedral, carried out by a married couple belonging to the local nobility. It analyses the works of architecture, painting, sculpture, blacksmithing and silversmithing made by various Flemish, German, Galician and Cantabrian artists, providing new information on figures such as Martín de Balenzate, Juan de Biorín, Juan de Castro and Crispín de Evelino, among others.
El presente trabajo trata la dotación artística de la capilla de la Concepción de la catedral de Mondoñedo, llevada a cabo por un matrimonio perteneciente a la hidalguía local. En él se analizan las obras de arquitectura, pintura, escultura, rejería y platería realizadas por diversos artistas flamencos, alemanes, gallegos y cántabros, aportándose nuevos datos sobre figuras como Martín de Balenzate, Juan de Biorín, Juan de Castro o Crispín de Evelino, entre otros.
