Resumo Grande parte das transformações de fase consideram o surgimento de apenas uma fase, entretanto, em alguns casos, podem surgir mais de uma fase. Nestes casos, as transformações podem iniciar-se no mesmo instante de tempo e ocorrer de forma simultânea, ou, uma transformação pode iniciar-se após decorrido um instante de tempo a partir do início da primeira, e assim, ocorrer de forma sequencial.O principal objetivo é avaliar a influência do tempo de incubação de uma segunda fase no tamanho de grãopara o decorrer da transformação total.Em 2011, Rios e Villa criaram um modelo matematicamente exato para as transformações simultâneas e sequenciais.O modelamento exato permitiu avaliar grandezas como: fração volumétrica transformada, área interfacial por unidade de volume e caminho microestrutural. Além disso, com o auxílio da simulação computacional, foi possível avaliar as possíveis microestruturas. Constatou-se que a simulação computacional obteve boa concordância com o modelo matemático. A influência do tempo de incubação de segunda fase sob o tamanho dos grãos foi estudada em detalhes.
