The effective use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the discussion surrounding its educational contributions in formal settings are key elements in the analysis of personal learning environments (PLE). The aim of this study was to analyze the tools that students use to access information, create content, and share and interact in the framework of higher education. The study took a quantitative approach, using an ex post facto, transactional design. Data collection was via the application of a questionnaire to a stratified probabilistic sample (n = 1187) of university students on different courses at the National University (Costa Rica). Analysis of the data showed moderate use of tools in students’ PLEs. Students made more frequent use of resources aimed at accessing information, followed by applications for sharing and interacting, and, to a lesser extent, content creation. We also found significant differences in the use of tools depending on sex, previous education in technology, and academic performance. We recommend the inclusion of open, flexible learning strategies in university education which incorporate the various technological resources available in the digital era to ensure the development of PLEs and lifelong learning.
In this article, we present the results of a study about the perceptions of students studying for a degree in primary education about their music-teaching knowledge and their training needs in that area. The study was carried out in three public universities in Galicia (Spain). Using a quantitative methodological approach, a questionnaire was used to collect data from 302 participants. The results indicate some gaps in their practical, theoretical, and teaching knowledge related to musical expression which would have to be addressed through continued training during their professional practice. These gaps could also be considered in the design of teaching plans for teachers’ initial training. Considering that music is part of the primary education curriculum, and most people’s daily lives, careful thought is needed about the elements making up future teachers’ training. The measures which are adopted as a result will determine the use that will be made of music, both academically and as an interdisciplinary teaching resource.
School bullying continues to be one of the main latent scourges in the educational field. On the occasion of the Day of Non-Violence and School Peace (academic year 2021/2022) the subject of Educational Innovation and Research Projects in Music promotes an interdisciplinary and multi-artistic project with social impact that explains its consequences from the point of view of a teacher. Through the participation of the students of the Music itinerary of the Máster Universitario en Profesorado de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria, Bachillerato, Formación Profesional y Enseñanza de Idiomas the representation of a musical dramatization is undertaken within the framework of the Faculty of Education Sciences (Universidade da Coruña), in line with the following objectives: 1) vindicate the figure of the teaching staff before abuse and/or school violence within a faculty that forms the future of the profession; 2) exalt the value of art as an instrument of social change; and 3) promote the benefits of project-based learning among students. The academic results reinforce the validity of an experiential approach to project-based methodologies, highlighting the degree of human cohesion between teachers and students. For its part, the university community highlights the degree of innovation of the proposal and its importance in order to make real problems visible from another perspective.
AbstractThe research in music education related to the instrumental disciplines, bases its knowledge on what has been called, recently, Performative Studies. The specific objective of this work, is based on the foundations of qualitative research. We propose a model for an observation which structures the access to phenomena and describes the way of acquiring skills and knowledge that uses a teacher in relation to the artistic medium. For its development we have taken into account: repertoire analysis, didactic analysis of the repertoire and analysis of the methodological strategies employed in the work.
This paper aims to show how the non compulsory musical practice was present in the musical formation of the future teachers. Keywords: musical education, teacher training, teacher professional knowledge.
