The main objective was to make a systematic review of the last 20 years in order to identify how the handling of the didactic content of such content is. The development of this research was focused on a structured review of different series of Biology or Natural Sciences textbooks in the grades mentioned above, which were published by two publishing houses of the national circulation in the last 20 years. It was assumed that its topic proposals are consistent with the curriculum standards published by the Ministry of Education. In line with, scientific textbooks and university spreading books about physiology, ecology and biological evolution that handle the biological adaptation topic, recognized internationally were analyzed. This allowed to gather aspects for the theoretical framework of this paper. The analysis of each one of the texts was carried out through the design of an original that allowed to collect each of the aspects of the analyzed contents in a clear and concise way.It was possible to establish that the biological adaptation concept is associated with the evolutionary modes, which is still handled with little depth in most texts, due to the fact that it is set as the sum of characteristics that allow organisms to maintain within certain environments. Besides, in some book the relation to the natural selection processes not important. Simultaneously, the discipline handling for approaching the concept demonstrates mostly teleological features seeking the intentionality and purpose, which diminishes these topics and the central concept of...

AbstractA school textbook analysis of a topic in diversity, from a natural sciences book, is presented. The objective of this work is to contribute with the improvement of a widely used school textbook in order to enrich the diversity and biology teaching in our country. The conclusions of this work are the following: I) The
