Abstract:The swelling and mechanical behavior of untreated leather waste particles (buffing dust, BD) in natural rubber have been studied. Mechanical and swelling properties of the natural rubber (NR) composites containing the buffing dust have been discussed. The properties of the composites were found to increase with the increase in filler loading. Polymer composites based on leather wastes as fillers are reported to be useful for many applications such as in construction materials, automobile interior moldings, heat and sound insulating boards, shoe soles, flooring materials and moldings with good anti-static properties, air permeability, and good appearances.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
