RESUMO: A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo principal investigar as metas de socialização e estratégias de ação de mães de crianças com suspeita de Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA). Participaram desta pesquisa 20 mães de crianças com TEA com idade de zero a seis anos, que recebem atendimento em um centro especializado. Para coleta de dados, utilizou-se uma entrevista de metas de socialização e um questionário sociodemográfico. Para o tratamento dos dados da entrevista, utilizou-se da técnica de Análise de Conteúdo. Os resultados indicaram que, como meta de socialização, a categoria de autoaperfeiçoamento, que está relacionada à autonomia e à independência, foi significativamente a mais almejada. Com relação às estratégias de ação, as mais utilizadas pelas mães foi à centrada em si, que se refere ao papel dos genitores como modelo. Dessa forma, os resultados contribuem com a literatura da área e corrobora com a importância de esclarecer sobre as características de desenvolvimento da criança com TEA para os pais e como eles podem agir em prol da autonomia da criança. Ao levar em conta a visão inexplorada atual da sociedade com relação ao TEA, este estudo tem o intuito de proporcionar o repensar sobre as estratégias que possibilitam qualidade de vida à criança.
