Most cases are idiopathic (pars planitis); only few children presented associated systemic disease. Macular edema and severe vitritis at presentation are associated with increased risk of visual impairment. Cystoid macular edema is the main cause of visual impairment.

CMV-associated anterior uveitis has a fairly good long-term visual prognosis. Antiviral therapy can reduce the frequency of relapses, but cataracts and a chronic raise in IOP are frequent complications often requiring a surgical approach.

A significant shift in clinical manifestations of BD patients was observed over 44 years. Immunosuppressive therapy succeeded in lowering ocular complications. The incidence of ocular BD is increasing in females, but visual prognosis is still worse in males.

Purpose. To study epidemiology, clinical findings and visual prognosis of patients with Fuchs' Heterochromic Iridocyclitis (FHI). Methods. A retrospective analysis was performed on 158 patients with FHI. Thirty-five patients were observed only once; the remaining 123 had a mean follow-up of 30.7 months (50 of them had a mean follow-up of 63.5 months) and in those we assessed complications, medical and surgical treatment, and long-term visual prognosis. Results. Average age at uveitis diagnosis was 27.2 years and 18.3% of patients were children. Blurred vision (54.5%) and floaters (40.5%) were the most frequent presenting symptoms. Small to medium-sized keratic precipitates (95.6%), iris atrophy (86.8%), and vitreous opacities (91.2%) were the most common signs; the prevalence of cataract and IOP increase was 63.5% and 20.1%, respectively, and their incidence was 0.1 and 0.06 eye/year. Significant risk factor for visual loss was IOP increase at presentation (p = 0.02). At final examination 98% of the eye had a visual acuity ≥ 0.6, and topical (p < 0.001) and systemic (p < 0.001) corticosteroids therapy were used less frequently than before referral. Conclusions. FHI has a good visual prognosis, despite the significant incidence of cataract and glaucoma. A correct and prompt diagnosis might avoid unnecessary therapies and provide excellent visual outcomes.

Purpose: To evaluate retrospectively if scleral buckling combined or not to cryopexy reduces fellow-eye retinal detachment (RD) in Stickler syndrome patients who lost their first eye due to RD.Methods: Retrospective review of 52 Stickler syndrome patients who received a 6-mm wide, 360°encircling scleral buckling. Thirty-nine (75%; Cryo + Group) also received cryo treatment, whereas the reminder 13/52 (25% Cryo 2 Group) did not.Results: Average follow-up was 15.6 ± 2.41 years. Five patients (5/52; 9.6%) developed a retinal detachment 2.6 ± 0.55 years after prophylactic treatment, respectively, 0/39 patients in the Cryo + Group and 5/13 in the Cryo 2 Group (P , 0.001). All five RD eyes were successfully reattached through revised episcleral surgery and adjunctive cryo treatment. Postop refraction changed an average 21.9 ± 0.74 diopters and best corrected visual acuity at the end of followup was 20/25 (0.1 ± 0.07 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution), not significantly different from the rest of sample population who did not develop RD in their fellow eye.Conclusion: Cryopexy significantly reduced the risk of RD in Stickler syndrome patients undergoing scleral buckling. If RD ensues, the presence of scleral buckling may ease surgical repair and improve final outcome.

Layer three standards\ud have already been approved, but they do not pursue optimality\ud in terms of high throughput. This paper aims to identify a new\ud algorithm to put on top of the standard routing layer, namely\ud Self hEaling Infotainment and safetY Application (SEIYA), in\ud order to create a vehicular distributed backbone, able to stay up\ud as long as possible (thus reducing the election phase overhead).\ud The main objective is to enable high speed data routes for several\ud kinds of safety and infotainment applications of a stable vehicular\ud cloud: traffic monitoring, emergency signals, augmented reality\ud information are just few examples. Our approach is validated\ud through simulations on real maps with realistic vehicle flows and\ud high throughput demands
