Este trabajo ha obtenido el Accésit Premio Estudios Financieros 2010 en la modalidad de CONTABILIDAD Y ADMINISTRACIÓN DE EMPRESAS.
La primera aplicación en 2008 del nuevo Plan General de Contabilidad permitió a las empresas españolas elegir como fecha de transición para sus estados financieros individuales el 1 de enero de 2007 o bien el 1 de enero de 2008. La primera opción obligaba a las empresas a presentar estados financieros comparativos, mientras que la segunda opción permitía mostrar únicamente información en la memoria relativa a los ajustes realizados en el patrimonio neto. Este trabajo analiza las principales características de las empresas que voluntariamente han optado por la primera opción y se examina cuál es el impacto cuantitativo del cambio de normativa en las principales partidas contables y ratios. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que los principales determinantes de esta transición anticipada son el tamaño y la intensidad de capital. En cuanto a la repercusión, el efecto ha sido significativo en la mayoría de partidas y algunos de los ratios. En consecuencia, las empresas que han optado por realizar la transición a 1 de enero de 2008 vulneran el principio de comparabilidad de la información financiera.
