Nachdem Geppert') 1891 gezeigt hatte, daß die Wirkung des Sublirnats nicht ganz den Angaben früherer Autoren cnt-') Deutsche ,nediziiiische Wochenschrift 1891, 8. 1065. sprach, stellten Krönig und Paul') quantitative Desinfektionsversuche an und gelangten bei Anwendung ihrer Granatenmethode zu recht günstigen Resultaten. Sie fanden z. B., daß Milzbrandsporen von der 1/, normalen Sublimatlösung (1,69 %) nach 14 Minuten, der 1/i, normalen (0,84 %) in 30 Minuten, der 1/ normalen (0,42 %) nach 70 Minuten, der 1/54 normalen (0,21 %) nach 80 Minuten und von der /12S normalen (0,115 %) in etwa zwei Stunden abgetötet waren. Durch diese Arbeiten schien die Wirksamkeit des Sublimats endgültig ermittelt zu sein, und es mußte aufs höchste in Erstaunen setzen, als Ottolenghi zuerst in einigen vorläufigen Mitteilungen') und dann in einer ausführlichen Publikation) sehr ungünstige Resultate über die Wirkung des Sublimats veröffentlichte. Nach seinen Versuchen waren Milzbrandsporen nach einer neuntagigen Einwirkung einer 1/5 normalen (2,7 %) Lösung bei einer Temperatur von 14° noch entwicklungsfähig. Staphylokokken waren durch eine '/ normale (1,3 %) Lösung nach 24 Stunden noch nicht abgetötet ; leider sind entsprechende Untersuchungen mit Staphylokokken von Krönig und Paul nicht ausgeführt worden. Die Unterschiede der Resultate von Ottolenghi und von Krönig und Paul beruhen au f einer vollständig neuen [Jntersucliu ngstechnik, die Ottolenghi angegeben hat. Die Methode ist in kurzen Zügen die folgende: Zu einem gemessenen Volumen filtrierter wäßriger Baktcrienaufschwemmung fügt man vorsichtig ein ebenfalls gemessenes Volumen des Desinfektionsmittels. Aus praktischen Giünden wählt man das Verhältnis dieser beiden Volumina wie 1 : 9. Nach bestimmten Zeiten entnimmt man abgemessene I'roben dieses Cemisches (0,5-1 cern), übertriigt sie in Kölbchen, die 10 ccm sterile Bouillon enthalten. Nur, fügt uran hierzu gemessene Mengen Schwefelwasserstofflösung bestimmter Konzentration und nach Ablauf von etwa 20 bis 30 Minuten 10 cern sterilisiertes Ochsenblutserurn. Zur Kultur werden die so präparierten Kölbche,i in den Thermostaten hei 370 (J gestellt. Nach Verlauf von ein his zwei Tagen überträgt man zur Identifizierung der angewendeten Bakterienspezies eine größere Oese des Kolbeninhaltes auf Agarplatten. Die Gesichtspunkte, die Ottolenghi zur Vornahme dieser Methode veranlaßten, waren foigende: Es ist bekannt, daß zur Neutralisation des an die Bakterien gebundenen Sublimats ein gewisser Ueberschuß von Schwefelwasserstoff resp. Schwefelalkalien Verwendung finden muß, uni die mit den Bakterien eingegangene Bindung wieder zu lockern. Ein großer Ueberschuß muß aber anderseits wieder vermieden werden, weil Schwefelwasserstoff selbst bakterizide Eigenschaften besitzt. Aus den umfangreichen vergleichenden Untersuchungen Otto lenghis geht hervor, daß die Giftigkeit von Schwefelwasserstoff, Schwefelarnnionium und Ammoniumsulfhydrat für die verschiedenen Bakterienspezies ungefähr die gleiche ist. Ottolenghi zog für die Versuche ersteren vor, weil ...
