The N-terminal amino acid sequence of the 20 kDa (3') subunit of the turnip (Brassica napus L.) mitochondrial F~-ATPase has been determined. Comparison of the sequence obtained with those of the e subunits of chloroplast CF~, E. coli F 1 and the ~ subunit of bovine F~ shows that the turnip 3' subunit is another member of this family of homologous proteins. The 3' subunit of sweet potato F~-ATPase [(1989) J. Biol. Chem. 264, 3183-3186] is very similar to the turnip sequence and thus can also be considered to belong to this family.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
