Riassunto Il contributo si focalizza sui libri di testo adottati nelle scuole del Regno di Napoli (1806-1815) e del Regno delle Due Sicilie (1816-1820) e sulle imprese tipografiche attive nel settore della manualistica scolastica. Le vicende del mercato tipografico-editoriale sono collacote nel contesto della Riforma dell’istruzione realizzata durante il Decennio francese, che ha costituito la condizione storica per lo sviluppo del mercato del libro di testo. Il lavoro di ricerca è basato principalmente su fonti indirette per l’indisponibilità delle fonti primarie. L’analisi condotta sul versante istituzionale consente di individuare i testi e gli autori indicati dallo Stato allo scopo di modernizzare l’attività didattica. La ricognizione effettuata sui tipografi/editori restituisce la geografia produttiva dell’editoria scolastica nel periodo considerato. L’attività editoriale rimase relegata alle capitali dei regni e fu quasi del tutto assente nelle provincie, le quali erano prive di un tessuto produttivo ma non di un mercato scolastico.

As reformas, implementadas entre 1802 e 1811, garantiram à França napoleônica um sistema de ensino público administrado e controlado pelo Estado, baseado em uma concepção laica que incorporava os setores privado e eclesiástico, com um sistema que se dividia prospectivamente em três graus: primário, secundário e superior, em que o liceu representou o ápice do ensino secundário e a base do segmento superior.
