Introdução: De acordo com Conselho Federal de Serviço Social (CFESS) os profissionais da assistência social precisam acatar posicionamento em favor da equidade e justiça social, que assegure universalidade de acesso aos bens e serviços relativos aos programas e políticas sociais, bem como sua gestão democrática. É uma profissão que possui uma formação generalista, sendo seu principal objeto as diferentes expressões da “questão social”, e que durante a pandemia do covid-19 teve sua realidade profissional alterada. presente trabalho objetivou procurar entender como ocorrem os atendimentos dos assistentes sociais nas unidades de atendimento durante o contexto da Pandemia, nas entrevistas também se buscou saber quais foram as competências que precisaram ser desenvolvidas no profissional de assistência social devido ao período de Pandemia, e como se deu a relação entre profissional e o paciente durante esse período. Metodologia: O presente trabalho classifica-se como qualitativa, trata-se ainda de uma revisão de literatura. Onde foi realizado um estudo com três assistentes sociais, onde duas atuaram em hospital e uma em UPA na região metropolitana do Recife/PE. Optou-se por realizar entrevistas semiestruturadas com os sujeitos de pesquisa, e a análise narrativa dos conteúdos. Resultado e Discussão: As três profissionais tiveram desafios e dificuldades durante a atuação das mesmas, mas mostraram que o serviço não foi interrompido em meio a diversidade, mas que elas precisaram mudar. Conclusão: A pandemia foi um momento de desafio para esses profissionais onde mais do que nunca precisaram se reafirmar em sua profissional, aprenderam a se adaptar as dificuldades impostas pelo cenário pandêmico, aprenderam a desenvolver estratégias para melhor atuarem em suas profissões, tiveram que aprender a lidar com os seus sentimentos e os sentimentos de pacientes e familiares. E mostraram como são importantes na saúde, mostrando que lutar pelo acesso ao direito da cidadania não é fácil, mas é possível.
