RESUMO.Vamos demonstrar que o tema da psicose é tratado por Freud, tanto clínica quanto teoricamente, com base em sua prática com as neuroses -tendo como pilar conceitual o mecanismo do recalque (Verdrängung). A segunda tópica do funcionamento mental e os desdobramentos da teoria do narcisismo permitem um passo adiante na concepção freudiana da psicose. A diferença estrutural determinante entre as psicoses e as neuroses de transferência é formalizada por Freud em 1924. O paradigma do recalque e suas modalidades de defesa são finalmente abandonados como modelo elucidativo dos fenômenos psicóticos. Seu mecanismo específico será redefinido como rejeição (Verwerfung). Lacan nomeia esse mecanismo como foraclusão do Nome-do-Pai, cuja falta explica a ausência do sujeito da enunciação. Na ausência deste mediador simbólico, a diferença sexual não se ordena sob a rubrica da lógica fálica e do complexo de castração.

Para Slavoj Žižek, Lacan foi um leitor e intérprete voraz que mais potencializou o alcance das descobertas freudianas. Como ler Lacan é apresentado como uma demonstração do vigor da psicanálise como método de leitura pertinente aos fenômenos da atualidade. Com a publicação desse enxuto livro, Žižek vira o jogo e rebate as proclamações partidárias do cognitivismo e da neurobiologia que desdenham das explicações freudianas do funcionamento mental e condenam a psicanálise à morte. Sua chegada às prateleiras ocorreu na mesma década em que foi publicado O Livro negro da psicanálise, deixando o recado de que tal funeral é absolutamente prematuro. Muito pelo contrário: "só hoje o tempo da psicanálise está chegando" (Žižek, 2010, p. 9). Àqueles que, a considerar o título do livro, esperam um trabalho introdutório para primeiros passos, talvez o texto soe denso. Já os que possuem longa estrada de formação talvez o experimentem como um pouco enfadonho. Ainda assim, é tácito que se trata de uma leitura que dá acesso a articulações marcadas por um raciocínio ágil e por um abrangente repertório de referências que vão desde clássicos da literatura, como Shakespeare, a produções cinematográficas, como Casablanca e Alien, novelas mexicanas e fatos marcantes da história mundial. Desse mosaico tão heterogêneo vemos se costurar, no melhor estilo do autor, uma trajetória concisa de transmissão de conceitos clássicos, tais como os de inconsciente, grande Outro, fantasia, objeto a, pulsão e supereu. Lembremos que, ao discorrer sobre a história do movimento psicanalítico, Freud (1914/1996, p. 47) afirmou: "tentei dar uma ideia da riqueza ainda incalculável de conexões que surgiram entre a psicanálise médica e outros campos da ciência. Existe material de trabalho para uma geração de pesquisadores, e não duvido de que ele será realizado tão logo as resistências contra a psicanálise sejam superadas". Em uma direção metodológica similar à freudiana, Žižek pensa a cultura com as chaves explicativas da psicanálise lacaniana, mostrando que a psicanálise não é especulativa e sim orientada para o real naquilo que aparece para o sujeito em seu cotidiano.
