Pretende-se investigar, a partir especialmente dos primeiros capítulos dos Discursos sobre a Primeira Década de Tito Lívio, de Maquiavel, a confluência e divergência de aspectos tradicionais sobre a constituição de Roma em sua fase republicana. Para tal, recorreu-se às Histórias de Políbio e à História de Roma de Tito Lívio, tomando-as como ponto de partida do debate que foi consolidando ao longo da tradição, destacando-se o modo peculiar com que Maquiavel discute o tema.
Trata-se de investigar os argumentos utilizados por Maquiavel que sustentam uma proposta republicana em seu projeto constitucional, conforme Discurso sobre as formas de governo de Florença após a morte do jovem Lorenzo de Medici. Para tanto, pretende-se primeiramente apresentar o exame maquiaveliano sobre os governos de Florença do passado (1393 até 1512) e, em seguida, procurar compreender sobre quais bases teóricas ele fundamenta o projeto. Para a compreensão teórica de seus pressupostos republicanos que se contrapõem ao processo de corrupção das ordenações florentinas, utilizamos outros escritos maquiavelianos, sobretudo os Discursos sobre a primeira década de Tito Lívio. As questões sobre a estabilidade-instabilidade dos regimes, os pressupostos das formas “apropriadas” de governo – incluindo a questão da “igualdade” entre os cidadãos –, a inclusão-exclusão dos humores e o processo de corrupção perpassam nossa análise.
Significados de RenascimentoDuas obras primas podem representar magistralmente o Renascimento: O Nascimento de Vênus de Sandro Boticelli, hoje na Galeria degli Uffizi, em Florença, e A escola de Atenas de Rafael, no Vaticano.No Nascimento de Vênus, com a imagem da deusa surgindo das águas do mar de Chipre, temos a ideia de nascimento e, ao mesmo tempo, de renascimento no século XV dessa temática clássica. O quadro é de cerca de 1480, uma recriação da Afrodite anadyomene inspirada num modelo perdido do grande pintor grego Apeles. Boticelli recria essa imagem tendo também como referência a escultura da Vênus de Médici, que certamente conhecia e que se encontra na mesma pose. Na verdade, foi o famoso Vasari que atribuiu esse título à obra de Boticelli e que a vincula a uma encomenda dos Médici. O simbolismo, contudo, parece evidente: a imagem da divindade nascendo e a evocação dessas obras da Antiguidade trazem exatamente um retorno aos padrões e temáticas da cultura clássica grega como inspiração para a arte e o pensamento desse período. Trata-se de, seguindo a exposição de Christine de Pizan na Cidade das Damas, apontar os principais argumentos para desconstruir a imagem das mulheres tal como consta nos escritos de filósofos, moralistas e escritores de modo mais geral. Pretende-se, portanto, evidenciar a estratégia e os elementos argumentativos da autora para desconstruir a concepção de feminino como moralmente fraco e intelectualmente desfavorecido. Tal feito tem consequências relevantes e pretende-se indicar sua relação com os pressupostos da educação das mulheres. Por fim, objetiva-se destacar a contribuição de Christine de Pizan à filosofia, aos escritos femininos e, sobretudo, às mulheres.
