Introdução: Apesar da comprovação das inúmeras vantagens do aleitamento materno e da melhora da situação do aleitamento materno entre as crianças brasileiras, o que se percebe é que a situação no país em relação à amamentação exclusiva ainda é preocupante. O percentual de crianças no primeiro semestre de vida, alimentadas somente com o leite materno, permanece muito aquém da recomendação do Fundo das Nações Unidas para a Infância, da Organização Mundial da Saúde e do Ministério da Saúde do Brasil. Acrescentase ainda que o aleitamento materno depende de fatores que podem influir positiva ou negativamente no seu sucesso, de modo que tais fatores refletem num desafio aos enfermeiros. Com o conhecimento dessa realidade pretende-se atingir os seguintes objetivos: conhecer a importância do enfermeiro no estabelecimento e manutenção do aleitamento materno e discutir os fatores que desencadeiam o desmame precoce. Materiais e Métodos: Para atender aos objetivos propostos elegeuse a revisão bibliográfica. Resultados e Discussão: A análise dos dados resultou em três categorias temáticas: a prevalência do aleitamento materno no Brasil; os fatores que levam ao desmame precoce; e a promoção do aleitamento materno pelos profissionais de saúde, em especial o enfermeiro. Conclusões: Por fim podese dizer que além da vontade materna e da habilidade dos profissionais de saúde em promover o aleitamento materno, é preciso considerar que o sucesso da prática de amamentação depende também de políticas governamentais adequadas e do apoio e participação de toda sociedade.

Resumen La Resolución del Consejo Nacional de Salud 466/2012 brasileño dispone que el término de asentimiento es obligatorio en las investigaciones que involucran a niños. La resolución trae la definición de asentimiento informado, pero no detalla los elementos que deben contener el documento. Con base en esta laguna actual y relevante, este estudio pretende discutir la participación de los niños en investigación. Se presenta un marco teórico desde el cual se reflexiona sobre la ética en la investigación que involucra a niños dada su vulnerabilidad, lo que puede llevar a situaciones irreparables. Se concluye que el tema tiene que seguir en los debates académicos y profesionales, porque, además de que la realidad es dinámica, existen muchas especificidades para esta población.
Trata-se de um estudo que teve como objetivo descrever o perfil dos usuários de um Serviço de Controle de Hipertensão, Diabetes e Obesidade e discutir a relação entre a história de aleitamento materno da criança ou adolescente portador de diabetes tipo 1 e o desenvolvimento desta patologia. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de um questionário estruturado, aplicado aos pais ou responsáveis de crianças ou adolescentes portadoras de diabetes mellitus tipo 1, durante o segundo semestre de 2007. Os dados foram analisados com uma abordagem quantitativa, em que se utilizou a estatística descritiva. Como resultados foram apresentados dados referentes à caracterização da amostra, ocorrência do desmame precoce, período de aleitamento materno exclusivo, dieta oferecida após o desmame, entre outros. Na conclusão é evidenciada a significativa relação entre desmame precoce, com a consequente introdução de substitutos do leite materno e o desenvolvimento do diabetes mellitus tipo 1.
O objetivo do estudo foi desenvolver um instrumento quantitativo, validável e que produza resultados efetivos, voltado à realização de pesquisas com seres humanos, especialmente crianças (de sete a doze anos de idade), destinados ao levantamento de concepções e valores bioéticos. Para o desenvolvimento do instrumento foi levantada a literatura pertinente e para a validação do instrumento, este foi submetido a dois grupos de indivíduos selecionados, especialista em bioética e a público generalizado.
