El glaucoma define situaciones patológicas que producen un daño isquémico a los axones de las células ganglionares secundarias a un aumento de la presión intraocular (PIO). Esto conduce a una neuropatía caracterizada por hemorragias peripapilarcs, excavación paulatina de la papila óptica, adelgazamiento del anillo neurorretiniano y pérdida progresiva del campo visual, según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), el glaucoma constituye la segunda causa de ceguera en el mundo, por detrás de las cataratas, pero a diferencia de esta última conlleva a una pérdida de visión irreversible y afecta en torno a un tres por ciento de le población mundial, se realizó un estudio retrospectivo. y descriptivo con el fin de determinar los factores de riesgo asociados a glaucoma en pacientes entre 40 y 65 años durante el periodo enero 2017 a enero 2018, como método de recolección de la información se utilizaron las historias clínicas, dichos datos se procesaron mediante une base de datos en Excel; la muestra del estudio 68 pacientes entre 40 y 65 años que presentaron glaucoma de ángulo abierto o cerrado, y en donde se logró determinar, que las características socio demográficas de las pacientes con glaucoma que la edad mayor frecuencia demostró fue aquellos entre 45 y 50 años de edad, género femenino, procedencia rural, a pesar de no tener relevancia clínica se reportó que el nivel educativo básico guardaría una relación con el desarrollo de glaucoma debido a la falta de conocimiento acerca de factores de riesgo, factores de riesgo se determinó que las pacientes con hipertensión arterial y diabetes mellitus aumentaban el riesgo de padecer glaucoma de ángulo abierto, sin embargo, esto sumado al antecedente familiar de presentar glaucoma aumentaban la incidencia del mismo en este grupo de pacientes, relación entre los factores de riesgo y las características del glaucoma se reportó que el tipo de glaucoma que mayor incidencia demostró fue glaucoma primario de ángulo abierto, el síntoma inicial fue la visión subnormal presentándose al momento del diagnóstico.
El objetivo de este ensayo es describir los criterios de aislamiento en las unidades de cuidado intensivo, partiendo de la revisión de documentos específicos de carácter electrónico que permitan comprender la relevancia de la aplicación de estas medidas. Para realizar este ensayo se hizo necesaria la revisión de fuentes documentales en medios electrónicos provenientes de manuales, artículos científicos, trabajos de investigación. Se encontró que el uso rutinario de las precauciones especiales para todos los pacientes, especialmente los que se encuentran en UCI, reduce en gran medida el riesgo de transmisión de condiciones distintas a las que requieren precauciones por contacto (PC), precauciones de gota (PG) y precauciones de vía aérea (PVA). Aunque no es posible identificar prospectivamente a todos los pacientes que requieren de estas precauciones incrementadas, ciertos síndromes y condiciones clínicas tienen un riesgo suficientemente alto como para implementar estas precauciones aumentadas hasta contar con un diagnóstico definitivo.
