FCE is more common in PCV than AMD-CNV and CSC. Disturbance in the choroid/retinal pigment epithelium/Bruch membrane interface affected by FCE may be linked to the pathogenesis of PCV and AMD-CNV.
The overall 5-year survival rate is comparable to international data in most developed countries. However, most patients presented with advanced disease, making the rate of globe preservation lower than in some developed countries. Better education of the public and healthcare professionals may increase awareness and enable early detection of the disease.
Our study suggests that while there was significant improvement in contrast sensitivity and visual acuity after DSAEK, poor preoperative visual acuity was associated with an inferior visual outcome and the time to recovery was longer in eyes with BK.
