O artigo apresenta uma análise acerca dos caminhos da formação profissional de trabajadores sociales no Paraguai. Partimos de um estudo de caso de abordagem qualitativa por meio de pesquisa documental e de revisão de literatura, por meio dos quais analisamos as legislações e normativas que balizam o ensino superior no Paraguai; os processos formativos em trabajo social; e as propostas pedagógicas expressas nos planes/programas e nas mallas curriculares das universidades pesquisadas. A revisão de literatura privilegiou os autores paraguaios que discutem tanto o processo constituição sócio-histórica do Estado paraguaio e a política de educação superior, quanto o trabajo social no país estudado. Identificamos que a formação passou a ser regulamentada por uma perspectiva crítica a partir dos anos 2000, com a criação de legislações e normativas, como o código de ética profissional, a lei que regulamenta a profissão e a implementação de novas propostas curriculares. Outro aspecto identificado é que a formação profissional também responde as necessidades postas pelo desenvolvimento e contradições do capitalismo. Foi possível identificar que a formação está direcionada por um conjunto de objetivos estabelecidos, direcionando um perfil a ser formado. Em relação aos objetivos, destacamos os relacionados a análise da vida social; aos conhecimentos que sustentam a formação; as habilidades; aos instrumentos técnico-operativos e teórico-metodológicos; a ética; e a implementação de políticas sociais. No que tange ao perfil a ser formado, a direção é centrada na interpretação da questão social; na elaboração de propostas interventivas; e nas competências profissionais. Consideramos ainda que as Mallas Curriculares expressam componentes vinculados ao trabajo profesional; aos fundamentos do Trabajo Social; e ao entendimento da vida social.
O presente artigo pretende apresentar as semelhanças e diferenças no processo de formação profissional dos assistentes sociais no Arco Sul do MERCOSUL, tendo como referência os cursos de Serviço Social/Trabajo Social da Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana e Universidade Nacional de Assunção, no Brasil e Paraguai. Buscou-se, a partir de revisão de literatura e documental, descrever como se deu a construção das propostas pedagógicas dos respectivos cursos, identificando as entidades representativas da categoria profissional envolvidas, conhecendo os marcos regulatórios e jurídico-normativos que fundamentam e balizam a formação em Serviço Social/Trabajo Social nos países estudados. As incursões possibilitaram identificar que ambas propostas formativas estudadas vêm buscando formar assistentes sociais/trabajadores sociales com perfil capaz de intervir e que materializem ações que estejam condizentes com os princípios dos Códigos de Ética e das Leis que regulamentam a profissão; a existência de elementos que se materializam de modo mais simétricos do que assimétricos, demonstrando a possibilidade de intercambiar saberes, práticas e conhecimentos entre as duas instituições de ensino, assim como seu respectivo aprofundamento com os demais países da América Latina e Caribe.
O artigo em tela visa caracterizar as políticas públicas de atenção à mulher em situação de violência, sua implementação e execução no Brasil e Paraguai, com recorte analítico para as cidades gêmeas de Foz do Iguaçu/BR e Ciudad Del Este/PY, a partir de estudos exploratórios, com base teórica (leis, decretos e portarias dos respectivos países) e empírica (realizada através de visita in loco), visando identificar, em seus conteúdos programáticos, as divergências e convergências no processo de criação, execução e implementação dessas políticas nas cidades gêmeas.
