O presente estudo tem como objetivo principal traçar o perfil dos alunos do Curso de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), Campus Sobral em relação aos hábitos de estudos e participação em atividades curriculares e complementares. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre setembro e outubro de 2019, através da aplicação de um questionário com doze perguntas sobre temas variados, como informações gerais, métodos de estudo utilizados e participação em atividades complementares e paralelas. Os dados obtidos foram devidamente tabulados, resultando em gráficos e tabelas analisados através de estatística descritiva. A análise dos 264 alunos respondentes indicou que a maioria dos estudantes são do sexo masculino e apresentam, em média, 22 anos. Esses alunos utilizam a internet como principal fonte de estudo, buscando, principalmente, o acesso a livros didáticos. Cerca de 56% dos estudantes referiram dificuldades de adaptação à vida acadêmica, devido ao grande volume de conteúdo e ao método de estudo inadequado. A atividade complementar mais frequente foi a participação em ligas acadêmicas. O tema “Radiologia” foi considerado a principal deficiência no currículo, sendo citado por 29,03% dos indivíduos. As atividades paralelas mais realizadas pelos alunos englobam eventos culturais, atividades esportivas e práticas religiosas. A partir dos tópicos analisados no estudo, é possível observar e compreender a realidade dos estudantes. Tal fato é basilar para a elaboração de modelos educacionais mais adequados, visando uma abordagem que proporcione melhorias na formação médica atual.
