RESUMOO Sudeste piauiense vem se destacando no cenário agrícola nacional, sendo considerado a última fronteira agrícola do país. A região apresenta boa disponibilidade hídrica subterrânea, que tem possibilitado o desenvolvimento da agricultura irrigada, sendo necessário o conhecimento da evapotranspiração de referência (ETo) para o cálculo da necessidade hídrica das culturas. Assim sendo, objetivou-se com a realização deste trabalho, avaliar, para as condições climáticas de Bom Jesus, PI, diferentes métodos de estimativa da evapotranspiração de referência (Hargreaves-Samani, Ivanov, Camargo, Priestley-Taylor e Jensen-Haise), comparando-os com o método padrão de Penman-Monteith-FAO. Foi utilizado um conjunto de dados diários de treze anos (2000 a 2013) de temperatura do ar, velocidade do vento, umidade relativa do ar e insolação. Os dados foram obtidos na estação meteorológica convencional do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INMET), situada no município de Bom Jesus. A estimativa da ETo foi feita para o período anual, chuvoso (novembro a abril) e o seco (maio a outubro). Os métodos de Jensen-Haise (JH) e Priestley-Taylor (PT) apresentaram os melhores desempenhos no período anual, chuvoso e seco, porém, com superestimativa do método de Priestley-Taylor. Os piores desempenhos, por sua vez, foram constatados para os métodos de Ivanov (IVN) e Camargo (CM). Com isso, para as condições climáticas do município de Bom Jesus, PI, recomenda-se o uso da equação de Jense-Haise para a estimativa da evapotranspiração de referência (ETo), quando não se dispõe de dados para o cálculo por PM.Palavras-chave: agrometeorologia, Penman-Monteith, Jense-Haise, planejamento de irrigação COMPARISON REFERENCE EVAPOTRANSPIRATION ESTIMATE METHODS IN MUNICIPALITY OF BOM JESUS, PI
