Leiomyosarcomas are uncommon smooth muscle tumors most commonly encountered in the female genital organs, gastrointestinal tract, and soft tissues. They are rarely encountered as primary pulmonary neoplasms. Herein we describe the conventional radiographic and computed tomographic findings in a patient with a pulmonary leiomyosarcoma.
Splenosis is heterotopic autotransplantation and seeding of splenic tissue. In the literature, only a few cases of splenosis involving the liver and the radiologic characteristics of these lesions have been reported. We report a case of intrahepatic splenosis diagnosed by ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and scintigraphic features. To our knowledge, our patient is the first case diagnosed only by radiologic and radionuclide examination without any intervention. Keywords Intrahepatic splenosis · US · CT · MRI · Heat-damaged red blood cell (RBC) scintigraphy · Liver neoplasms Eur Radiol (2002) 12:S62-S65
Gadolinium-enhanced 3D MRA is capable of diagnosing pulmonary hypoplasia and aplasia rapidly and accurately. Both pulmonary hypoplasia and aplasia can be shown morphologically in a noninvasive manner, obviating digital subtraction angiography.
The criteria for the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis are the clinical data, CSF analysis and the response to specific treatment. M any of the cases, as a result of early diagnosis, and with the presence of effective tratment methods can be treated without any complications. However in some of the cases serious complications based on various reasons, do arise which can worsen the prognosis and affect the principles of treatment. In this study, CT findings of 19 patients with complicated intracranial tubercolosis are considered retrospectively. Children between the ages 1-10 contitute this sample. The avarage age is 5.3 years, 13 <;! and 6 <3' .The evaluation of CT scans includes the changes in the ventricle system, the condition of basal cisterns, the tuberculomas and the infarcts. The evaluation of the ventricle system involves the sizes of the 3rd and 4th ventricles and the bifrontal index. Apart from this, effort is spent to determine the presence, type and degree of hyfrocephalus by the ectasia of temporal horns, fissure of Sylvius and the condition of the sulci. Basal meningitis is interpreted by appearance of the basal cisterns at the slices, without IV contrast material, and the incrase of density in scans with IV constrast. Tuberculomas and infarcts are examined for their CT characteristics as to localization, size, contrast uptake and calcification.CT is a valuable radiodiagnostic analysis method used in the diagnosis of intracranial pathologies. For this reason, the characteristics of CTfindings in cases of tubercolous meningits are investigated in our study.
