Resumo: Neste artigo analisamos as crenças de uma professora de inglês no seu primeiro ano de trabalho em uma escola pública com uma turma de adolescentes. Os dados foram gerados a partir de uma entrevista gravada e transcrita para uma análise qualitativa. Com base em referenciais teóricos e estudos encontrados na Linguística Aplicada, na Psicologia e na Educação, as crenças foram analisadas considerando as experiências sobre o ensino de inglês com adolescentes e o ensino no contexto de escola pública. Os dados apontam para um distanciamento entre alunos e professora, marcado, sobretudo, por dois tipos de desencontros: a dificuldade em compreender e ser compreendida pelo aluno adolescente e a dificuldade que sentiu ao ter que aliar o conhecimento teórico do curso de Letras com sua prática em sala de aula. A respeito do ensino de uma nova língua na escola pública, a professora entrevistada não acredita ser possível ensinar inglês de maneira efetiva e plena, entendendo aqui o uso, principalmente, da modalidade oral, por diversos fatores internos e externos à sala de aula, tais como: desmotivação
Neste artigo apresentamos alguns resultados alcançados por meio de uma pesquisa-ação realizada com alunos-adolescentes de escola pública. A análise dos dados foi norteada pela teoria sociocultural, quando, então, objetivamos entender o desenvolvimento daqueles alunos pela linguagem, focalizando as interações estabelecidas entre colegas e entre professor e alunos-adolescentes. Discutimos, especificamente, o construto teórico scaffolding, no viés da colaboração entre pares em atividades orais trabalhadas em sala de aula. Escolhemos como fonte primária para o presente estudo dados coletados por meio de gravações/filmagens de aulas, selecionando e transcrevendo alguns excertos para ilustrar a análise feita. Utilizamos também o diário de campo do aluno-professor-pesquisador. Esses dados revelaram características peculiares e coerentes com a adolescência, fase pela qual os alunos passavam, tais como o desinteresse e apatia nas aulas, e apontaram também ocorrências de situações propícias à colaboração efetiva entre pares (colegas), que poderiam ter propiciado o desenvolvimento de ambos, mas que resultaram, na maioria delas, em aparente fracasso. Entretanto, ficou também evidenciado que, quando a atividade desperta a curiosidade, a motivação do aluno-adolescente, ele se sente recrutado a participar da tarefa. Encerramos o estudo, certos da necessidade de mais pesquisas e estudos na área da Línguística Aplicada que focalizem o aluno-adolescente e seu desenvolvimento pela aprendizagem de uma nova língua no contexto público.
Este trabalho analisa as narrativas de uma estudante universitária negra sobre suas experiências raciais no contexto familiar e educacional até sua chegada ao ensino superior. Baseados em estudos da pesquisa narrativa para eventos críticos, bem como estudos culturais de identidade e de Linguística Aplicada, o presente estudo revela as complexidades da construção identitária que se revela nos dizeres da estudante que resgata lembranças para construir um entendimento dos eventos vividos. As narrativas mostram relações conflituosas familiares, racismo durante o período escolar e chegada ao ensino superior como ventos de mudança, uma vez que o novo contexto possibilita mais pertencimento e fortalecimento de sua própria identidade como mulher negra.
