To analyze the perception of students and teachers from federal and private HEIs regarding the usefulness and ease of use of the main Information System used by them in remote teaching/learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. A classic model from the field of technology acceptance (TAM) is adopted as a theoretical basis to observe a phenomenon that is recent and still under construction in its body of scientific knowledge. Study's results contribute to new variables associated with the phenomenon. Methodologically, the study contributed by analytical construction. To achieve the study's objective, a quantitative approach, hypothetical-deductive logic, and interpretivist epistemology were adopted. A total of 806 valid responses were collected. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, clustering, correlation, analysis of variance, and regression. We observe that the attitude toward IS use adopted by HEIs during the pandemic by COVID-19 are influenced by Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use, but differently for students and faculty. The study advances the technology acceptance literature by addressing a current issue that is aligned with the main challenges facing Brazilian Higher Education Institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the management field, the results of the study suggest practices that can facilitate the use of information systems in the transition from face-to-face teaching to the remote modality.
The purpose of this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is to provide an overview of the current state of research efforts on the application of TAM in the field of learning and teaching during pandemic COVID-19 and to identify gaps that can be explored in future studies. Our study presents an approach to a current theme, relevant to a literature still under construction and to society, especially to Institutions of Higher Education. Furthermore, the methodological approach adopted allowed us to identify the existing body of knowledge and opportunities for new research. Through the SLR a total of 113 studies were identified and analyzed with bibliometric techniques and lexical analysis. The results of the SLR were complemented by an online survey applied in two Higher Education Institutions. A total of 819 responses were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics. We observed a growing scientific production Asian continent researchers and few publications from female researchers. Quantitative approaches performed by means of structural-equation-modeling made up a large part of the studies We did not identify univocally qualitative studies We did not observe studies focusing on the Google-Classroom or SIGAA IS. We believe that the study presents a methodological approach not identified by the authors in previous studies for conducting a Systematic Literature Review (joining a systematic search in academic databases with the use of the Connected Papers and Ryyan platforms). For academia, the study allowed for the identification of gaps in the body of scientific knowledge about the topics "technology acceptance model," "teaching-learning," and "pandemic COVID-19) The identification of gaps in the literature allows for targeted studies with greater contribution to the existing body of scientific knowledge.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
