RESUMO -O presente estudo teve por objetivo conhecer a estrutura fitossociológica da vegetação arbustivoarbórea colonizadora em uma área degradada por mineração de caulim no Município de Brás Pires (20°55'S e 43°09'W), MG, visando selecionar e indicar espécies mais adaptadas para recuperação de áreas degradadas semelhantes. A amostragem fitossociológica contou com 50 parcelas contíguas de 10 m X 10 m, totalizando 0,5 ha. Estiveram passíveis de inclusão todos os indivíduos com circunferência do tronco a 1,30 m do solo (CAP) igual ou superior a 10 cm. O levantamento resultou em 1.010 indivíduos pertencentes a 47 espécies, distribuídos em 39 gêneros e 23 famílias. Destacaram-se em valor de importância Piptadenia gonoacantha, Luehea grandiflora, Anadenanthera peregrina, Cecropia glaziovii, Cecropia hololeuca e Xylopia brasiliensis. A análise da distribuição dos indivíduos em classes de diâmetro revelou uma comunidade em plena regeneração, com representação em todas as classes diamétricas.Palavras-chave: Fitossociologia, restauração de áreas degradadas, mineração e regeneração natural.
