TEACHER TRAINING POLICIES: CURRICULA AND QUALITYABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to understand the theoretical references used in the curriculum of the undergraduate courses in university expansion to guarantee a solid training in the education area of knowledge and check if the guidelines and practices are in line with the proposals of the new Education National Plan -PNE and current guidelines. The existing bibliographical research in the building of curriculum was used as theoretical basis with dialogues with the following authors: Matos (2006), Pimenta (2014) and Saviani (2014), followed by a document analysis and semi-structured interview application. The data revealed difficulties in developing innovative projects, lack of ownership in projects, lack of assistance with dialogue and joint training of trainers, conservative principles, and insufficient investments on infrastructures, among others. However, if on the one hand there were difficulties and controversies for curricular innovation, on the other hand there were achievements too. Finally, it is mandatory to improve political plans, guidelines and practices for improvements within Teacher Training Programs.
