Por intermédio dessas reflexões, cabe-nos questionar a intenção do diretor para com a obra, assim como a da obra para com seu público.

Partindo da situação judaica tal qual era percebida por H. Heine em seu momento histórico – isto é, partindo da fragmentação da unidade social, cultural e religiosa judaica que havia perdurado até meados do século XVIII e XIX – este artigo visa trabalhar componentes sociais tais quais a emancipação e o aburguesamento das comunidades judaicas da Europa ocidental, quando contrastada ao sentimento de "decadência" dos judeus da Europa oriental. O Rabi de Bacherach, fragmento de romance escrito por H. Heine em 1840, conta do lendário Rabi Abraão e de sua comuna às margens do Reno. Neste artigo, proponho que é o Rabi quem promove a simbólica ascensão entre brutalidade e cultura, participando assim ativamente do projeto pessoal de H. Heine de promover aculturamento e emancipação às comunidades judaicas orientais. Meu intuito é analisar as formas através das quais certas passagens do livro simbolicamente mimetizam um tal processo de emancipação.
