Öz Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the experienced problems, auditory hallucinations, and perceived social support in patients with schizophrenia followed up in Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) and outpatient clinics. Materials and Methods: This comparative-descriptive study was carried out between January-June 2017 in an adult psychiatry outpatient clinic of a university hospital and two CMHCs. The sample consisted of 66 patients, followed up in CMHC (n=33) and outpatient clinic (n=33). The data of the study were collected using Patient Information Form and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Results: The average age, gender, educational status, marital status of the patients in CMHC and outpatient clinic group, the people living with them, and the presence of another individual with a mental disorder in the family were similarities in terms of the characteristics of the disorder and treatment. Most of the patients explained the cause of the disease as "I don't know/I don't remember/black magic/destiny given by God". Most of the patients in the outpatient clinic group (78.6%) and patients slightly more than half of CMHC group (51.5%) explained the cause of the hallucinations as "I don't know/gins/black magic/surrounding evils". The difference between these rates were found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: Patients followed up in CMHC and patients followed up in the outpatient clinic exhibited similarity in terms of problems experienced due to the disease and coping characteristics.
