RESUMO: O potencial de regeneração de espécies nativas sob plantios florestais homogêneos é considerado um fator importante para a manutenção da diversidade e da riqueza de espécies florestais nativas. Dessa forma, esse estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a regeneração natural no sub-bosque de um povoamento de Eucalyptus grandis, localizado no município de Frederico Westphalen, RS. Foram instaladas 10 parcelas de 10 m x 10 m, nas quais foram mensurados todos os indivíduos com altura igual ou maior que 1 m. As espécies amostradas foram distribuídas em classes de altura e diâmetro e classificadas quanto a classe sucessional e síndrome de dispersão, sendo calculado o índice de diversidade de Shannon. No total foram amostrados 414 indivíduos, a florística da área inclui 32 espécies distribuídas em 20 famílias e 30 gêneros. A família Myrtaceae, apresentou a maior riqueza de espécies, sendo que Prunus myrtifolia e Sebastiania commersoniana foram as espécies com maior número de indivíduos. O índice de diversidade de Shannon foi estimado em 2,36 nats.ind.-1. A regeneração natural mostrou-se diversa, com predomínio de espécies heliófilas (pioneiras e secundárias iniciais), evidenciando que o povoamento de Eucalyptus grandis atuou como facilitadora da regeneração natural.
