The floating potential into Active Screen Plasma System (ASPS), with Ar plasma, was investigated in function of the grids mesh. The floating potential modulus shows values of the order of 10 1 V in cages with high percentage of open area (~70%), on the other hand, the floating potential modulus of the order of 10 2 V (close to the cathode potential) was observed for cages built with more closed mesh grids (~40% open area). When the grid mesh is sufficiently closed, the electrons are confined in the inner space of the cage and its density increases until reaching the potential of the cathode (grid). When the grid mesh is sufficiently open, occurs the formation of open hollow cathode-OHC-, that connects the inner space of the grid with the plasma space, than drops the floating potential modulus to low values, similar to the glow space of the plasma. Floating potential measurements were carried out as a function of the cathode voltage and working gas pressure for grids with different open area percentages.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
