En el presente estudio se prepararon catalizadores de alúmina (A) y alúmina dopada con Fe (AFSG) por el método de Sol-Gel y se compararon contra un catalizador de alúmina dopada con Fe por el método de impregnación (AF-1). El porciento de óxido de hierro fue determinado por espectrometría de fluorescencia de rayos X (EFRX). Para la caracterización de los catalizadores, se determinó el comportamiento térmico mediante TGA/DTA, donde se destacó la formación de la Al2O3 y Fe2O3 para los catalizadores dopados (AFSG y AFI). Mediante DRX se confirmó la fase la Al2O3. La morfología de la superficie de los catalizadores fue estudiada por microscopia electrónica de barridos (MEB) donde se observó la forma y tamaño de los aglomerados. Mediante fisisorción de nitrógenos se determinó las isotermas de adsorción y el área de superficie de los tres catalizadores. La identificación de los elementos presentes y la estructura de los orbitales de enlace se determinó por espectroscopia de fotoelectrones emitidos por rayos X (XPS). La combustión catalítica del TCE se realizó en un rango de 50 ºC a 600 ºC. Los catalizadores se compararon en términos de actividad y selectividad para los diferentes productos de reacción: CO2, CO, Cl2 y HCl.
