In Fortsetzung früherer Versuche wurde die Einwirkung von Vanadium‐(4)‐, Molybdän‐(5)‐, Kupfer‐(1)‐ und Eisen‐(2)‐Salz auf Hydroxylamin unter stufenweiser Änderung der Säure‐ bzw. Laugekonzentration untersucht. Im allgemeinen bestätigen die Versuche die Folgerungen, die sich aus dem Verhalten der höheren Oxydationsstufen der oben genannten Metalle gegenüber Hydroxylamin ergeben. Im einzelnen verlaufen die Reaktionen zwischen den hier untersuchten Salzen und Hydroxylamin wie folgt:
Vanadylsulfat reduziert Hydroxylamin in stark alkalischer Lösung quantitativ zu Ammoniak. Beim Übergang in die neutrale Lösung entstehen neben Ammoniak in steigender Menge gasförmige Oxydationsprodukte (Stickoxydul und Stickstoff) und in schwach saurer Lösung stellt sich der Vorgang als eine durch Vanadylsalz katalysierte Zersetzung des Hydroxylamins in Ammoniak einerseits und Stickoxydul bzw, Stickstoff andererseits dar.
