El volumen de Arianna Fermani, publicado por la editorial Morcelliana, propone al lector un interesante itinerario a través de conceptos claves del pensamiento ético de Aristóteles que la Autora, por medio de las palabras del filósofo de Estagira, presenta en su complejidad y polivocidad.En efecto, como Fermani declara en la Premisa del libro (pp. 11 s.), «la vera novità del pensiero aristotelico … risiede nella capacità di offrire una ricchissima casistica di modelli esplicativi del reale non ordinabili e di offrirsi, nella sua straordinaria duttilità, come un poliedrico e, insieme, fedele calco del reale». Y eso, en la mayor parte de los casos, desemboca -como se demuestra ampliamente a lo largo del texto -en la ausencia de definiciones unívocas en los escritos aristotélicos y, en cambio, en la presencia de muchas definiciones variadas, a veces contrastantes, pero validas en relación con la perspectiva (ética, política, jurídica etc.) adoptada por el filósofo.Para refutar la idea de que Aristóteles represente el campeón de una filosofía del aut aut, opuesto a un pensamiento del et et, Fermani concentra su atención en los escritos éticos: no solo en la más conocida Ética a Nicómaco, que una parte de los interpretes considera el texto por excelencia en el que se expresa el pensamiento moral del filósofo, sino también en la Ética Eudemia y los Magna Moralia. La Autora lee estas tres obras, que tradujo al italiano en 2008 por la editorial Bompiani (Aristóteles, Le tre Etiche, a cura di A. Fermani, Milano 2008), según una perspectiva unitaria opuesta a la perspectiva evolutivo-genética inaugurada por Jaeger: todas ellas proporcionan al lector y al interprete las ideas fundamentales de Aristóteles sobre la ética y ninguna de ellas es el canal único y privilegiado para conocer qué opinase el Estagirita sobre la justicia, la virtud, el vicio, la vida feliz etc. Por eso, todas ellas entran como piezas de un puzzle que permite al lector atento ir reconstruyendo una imagen compleja.Ese uso integrado de los escritos éticos aristotélicos es evidente en cada una de las tres partes que conforman el volumen y que se organizan como itinerarios por los territorios del vicio y la virtud, la pasión y la vida buena. Cada parte, a su vez, procede por etapas -los capítulos -en las que la Autora, con un uso razonado de citas aristotélicas en traducción italiana y referencias -en las notas al pie -a la bibliografía, revela al lector la manera de proceder del pensamiento del filósofo, su capacidad de analizar cualquier fenómeno y concepto desde perspectivas diferentes para llegar a su comprensión general.Para limitarnos a un ejemplo, el capítulo 1 de la primera parte se centra en el tema de la justicia, analizando y comentando las afirmaciones del libro V de la Ética a Nicómaco y el libro IV de la Ética Eudemia, integradas por las opiniones que Aristóteles expresa en otros lugares de las mismas obras y en la Retórica.
