Phytochemical investigation of the ethyl acetate extract from the aerial parts of Vahl resulted in the isolation of new polyacetylenes, triquetridiol () and epoxy-triquetrol (/, diastereomeric mixture), and the lignan demethoxy carolignan Z (/, pair), together with a series of related known metabolites. Additionally, some already reported phenolic and flavonoid compounds were also identified in the extract. Structural elucidation of the new compounds was made by spectroscopic analysis, mainly NMR and mass spectrometry. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of polyacetylenes and lignans from.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
