La cultura de Ecuador es rica en tradiciones, así como en expresiones artísticas, aunque estas manifestaciones estuvieron ignoradas por el mundo, hasta inicios del siglo XX, cuando se descubren, se valorizan y se consideran muchas manifestaciones integradas al patrimonio universal. En época reciente, más concretamente en el siglo XX, se valora nacional e internacionalmente la producción de los artistas plásticos ecuatorianos. Pero no sólo la plástica produce obras, sino que el sentimiento ecuatoriano crea un género musical importante, lleno de melancolía, conocido como pasillo ecuatoriano, género que también se dio en otras latitudes regionales y que alcanzó gran popularidad durante buena parte del siglo XX y tuvo intérpretes ecuatorianos que alcanzaron fama internacional y han quedado convertidos en verdaderos íconos del sentir popular. Dentro de la riqueza cultural que posee el País, se hacen evidentes las manifestaciones populares andinas, como son las fiestas que se realizan en homenaje al sol, recordando las costumbres ancestrales de agradecer por las cosechas y que son parte del patrimonio ecuatoriano. Este libro compila los trabajos investigativos tendientes a mantener el interés por las tradiciones ancestrales de Ecuador, tanto en su producción artística, como en sus manifestaciones folklóricas más importantes, así como valorar la importancia para el turismo de un importante sitio histórico. Se compilan en este libro los cuatro mejores trabajos de investigación que se presentaron en el área de Turismo, Hospitalidad y Patrimonio en el III Congreso Científico Internacional “Sociedad del Conocimiento: Retos y Perspectivas”.
