RESUMO:Este estudo descreve aspectos relativos ao processo de municipalização do ensino de uma escola da rede pública do município de Araraquara -SP. As informações foram obtidas através de entrevistas realizadas com oito alunos, seus respectivos pais ou responsáveis, a professora da classe e a diretora da escola. A análise privilegiou uma abordagem descritiva e qualitativa no sentido de caracterizar e descrever os principais aspectos do processo de municipalização implementado, sobretudo aqueles relativos à participação dos pais, alunos, professores e diretora da escola pesquisada. A investigação leva à interpretação de que os procedimentos realizados se caracterizaram pela centralização de decisões, sem participação das pessoas envolvidas. Palavras-Chave: Municipalização do ensino; Participação na escola; Ensino FundamentalABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to describe some aspects related to the assumption by the Municipality of one public school in Araraquara City-SP. Data were obtained through interviews with 8 students, their parents, the school teacher, and the school principal. The analysis was qualitative and descriptive with the objective of giving a picture of municipalization process main points including parents, students, teacher and principal participation. The results suggest that the procedures, contrary to the expected, carried out the centralization of all the decisions and that there were no participation of all people involved in the process.
