(FGD) was performed in the second step to identify the community's perception of the eruption impact. The research produced land suitability maps consisting of the following classification: S1 (64.74%), S2 (31.51%), and S3 (3.75%). The maps revealed that the majority of the land in Kelud Volcano had the potentials for agricultural development. These findings were supported by the perception of the local community, which argued that they could significantly benefit from the positive impact of the eruption. Aside from negative impact, it affected the potentials of agricultural land positively. This research analyzed the optimization of eruption-affected land using several steps. The first step was land suitability analysis with multicriteria assessment and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. In addition to the physical analysis, Focus Group Discussion
Mount Kelud eruption on February 2014 has a tremendous impact on the surrounding physical environment which ejected more than 200x106m3 of material. Thus, triggered secondary hazard such as landslides in the surrounding area. The purpose of this study is to map landslides susceptibility using Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) approach in Kelud mountainous area in particular within KRB 1 and 2. The identification of landslide occurrence was conducted based on remote sensing data and field observation along with four considerations criteria; topography, hydrology, soil, and environmental characteristics. Each factor then reduced into several sub-criteria such as slope, aspect, topographic position index, topographic wetness index, stream power index, rainfall, soil texture, soil structure, COLE index and land use. The SMCE method was also engaged with expert judgment provided by academic university’ view and the BPBD agencies. The result showed that the river channel and surrounding areas categorized as landslide high prone area. Furthermore, eruption material found as the sources of landslides occurrences.
The purpose of this research is to establish a webGIS-based disaster information system. WebGIS application is used as a dissemination strategy of geospatial information of the data obtained from the surrounding area of Kelud Volcano. This application utilizes the Free Open Source Software (FOSS) standardized by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The initial step in the development of this system includes providing a database for geospatial data storing consisting of landslide-prone zones, land suitability, and tourism which were the focus of this research. The second step is the GeoJSON data conversion and Web Mapping Service (WMS) creation. This study has several results in the form of; 1) the establishment of a web-based GIS application system using FOSS standardized by OGC provides benefits in terms of cost efficiency in the development and provides convenience for the application because it is widely used by the community; 2) the development of information systems built in two directions between community participation and disaster web managers shows effective results; 3) the results of the two system tests show that the system built has no functional problems but, the version of the web browser used needs to be considered. This application is expected to build a communication aspect between policymakers and the community concerning an integrated disaster information management.
Pandansari village became one of the villages that has frequent landslide events in the period 2009-2015 compared with the surrounding area in Malang regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of landslide risk located within an active volcano. To enhance the comprehensive analysis of landslide disasters, we used a risk concept in this study. The landslide risk analysis was based on 3 determinants, namely hazards, community vulnerability, and regional capacity. The data collections were conducted using observation and documentation for landslide hazards and interviews as well as Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for vulnerability and capacity aspects. The interviewed were applied for community and local government of Pandansari village. The recorded interviews were transcribed and analyzed according to recurrent themes in the answers. Findings from field investigation were then confronted with previous existing concepts of human exposure to natural hazards. Furthermore, the landslide hazard data were analyzed using spatial analysis tools, including GIS scoring, weighting, and overlaying weighted sum. The results showed the level of landslide risk has different values depending on the risk parameter, community vulnerability, and regional capacity. The level of landslide risk was divided into three levels, namely high with an area of 557.71 ha, moderate with 774.49 ha, and low with 1118.77 ha. Each of the risk factors, vulnerability, and capacity, has its characteristics in influencing the landslide risk in Pandansari Village. In relation to landslide disaster management, the risk analysis gives comprehensive input reaching good management practice in Pandansari village.
