The Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) incorporates a collaborative networking scenario, where dynamic host movement results in frequent topology changes. In MANET, nodes cooperate during route establishment, and the data packet must travel from source to destination through multi-hop intermediate links. The nodes in a MANET can be localized in a restricted zone, where manual intervention to setup fixed infrastructural support is practically infeasible. However, cooperative packet forwarding and data transmission is quite a common scenario in the context of MANET. Still, due to dynamic topological changes, weak, intermittent links appear within one-hop communication. This leads to a higher possibility of packet drop events and also increases the retransmission scenario, which affects the energy performance of the network. Addressing this issue, the study models a novel and intelligent packet forwarding approach based on the game theory, where trust evaluation in terms of node reputation factor also plays a very vital role. The approach also enforces an incentive modelling to stimulate the cooperation between mobile nodes during the MANET routing scenario. The system is designed and developed with evolutionary game perspectives to meet the Quality of Services (QoS) requirements. The experimental analysis supports the proposed modelling design aspects. Also, it exhibits that the reputation and trust-based game increases the utility of packet-forwarding strategy with high throughput and negligible network overhead.
New advancements in the technology of wireless sensors have contributed to the development of special protocols which are unique to sensor networks where minimal energy consumption is vital and very important. As a result, the focus and effort of researchers is on designing better routing algorithms for a given application and network architecture of interest. Flat-based routing protocols have been found to be less advantageous to clustering routing protocols when their performance are compared in a large-scale wireless sensor network scenario. This is due to the fact that clustering operation reduces the amount of redundant messages that are transmitted all over the network when an event is detected. This paper is an investigation of cluster-based routing protocols for wireless sensor networks.
Present study was carried to determine the sand fly species composition, breeding sites ecology, seasonal abundance, and spatial distribution in district Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In addition, risk factors associated with cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) were also evaluated. Survey of indoor and outdoor habitats was carried out using sticky traps in 31 villages of Dargai and Batkhela tehsils of Malakand.Soil from habitats of adult and immature sand flies was analysed. Questionnaire-based household survey was also performed in these villages to assess risk factors associated with CL. Soil samples from selected CL positive households were analysed for its contents. Additionally, clinicoepidemiological data from local health centres was examined for the year 2019. Total of 3,140 sand flies belonging to 18 species were collected. Phlebotomus sergenti was the most abundant species (38.16%). Its abundance had a strong positive correlation with mean monthly relative humidity and negative correlation with average temperature. Phlebotomus sergenti and Phlebotomus papatasi were abundant at an elevation ranging from 320 to 1,120 m above sea level and in agricultural lands near human settlements. Flight height preference apparatus collected maximum sand flies at 30 cm (1ft) above the ground and all species associated negatively with height. Soil analysis from habitats of adult and immature flies showed that highest mean number of adults and immatures were recorded from silt loam which carried highest concentrations of K 2 O, Mg, Ca, and Zn. Number of immature sand flies correlated moderately (r = .7, p < .05) with K 2 O soil concentrations. There was significant similarity between organic matter contents in soil samples from positive breeding sites and CL households (Wilcoxon rank-sum test, p = .1976). In multivariate analysis model for CL risk factors, age (26-35 and >35 years), knowledge of leishmaniasis, living in a middle and upper class, preachers visit to villages, and assumption that Afghan refugees are more prone to CL were significant. CL patient's archived data from health centres showed that majority of patients had lesions on face and hands. Patient's influx was highest in February and March.
Abstract-Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) have been envisioned as an important solution to the next generation wireless networking which can be used in wireless community networks, wireless enterprise networks, transportation systems, home networking and last-mile wireless internet access. Many proprietary mesh solutions were developed by individual vendor but in order to interoperability; IEEE forms a task group called IEEE 802.11s to develop an integrated mesh networking solution. Hybrid Wireless Mesh protocol (HWMP) and airtime metrics as default routing protocol and routing metrics set by the task group. There is few test bed and many simulation studies have been done to evaluate the performance of the HWMP protocol with the assumption of unique type of flow with fixed packet size and packet rate. However, real networks carry a diverse application (video, voice, FTP, Email etc) with different characteristics (packet size, data rate). In this paper, we are investigated and analyzed the performance of HWMP protocol under such heterogeneous application characteristics.
Abstract-Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile nodes which dynamically forms a temporary network without the use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. Recently, there has been a tremendous growth in the sales of laptops, handheld computers, PDA and portable computers. These smaller computers nevertheless can be equipped with megabytes/gigabytes of disk storage, high-resolution color displays, pointing devices and wireless communications adapters. Moreover, since many of these small computers operate for hours with battery power, users are free to move without being constrained by wires. To support such type of scenario MANET has been designed. MANET has several characteristics such as, dynamic topologies, bandwidth-constrained, variable capacity links, energyconstrained operation and limited physical security. There are three types of routing protocols in MANET such as Proactive, Reactive, and Hybrid. In this paper, a detailed simulation based performance study and analysis is performed on these types of routing protocols over MANET. Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), and Dynamic MANET On-demand (DYMO) routing protocol (reactive), Optimized Link State Routing protocol (OLSR) (proactive) and Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) is (hybrid) have been considered in this paper for the investigation and their relative performance is reported.
Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) have recently gained a lot of popularity due to their rapid deployment and instant communication capabilities. WMNs are dynamically selforganized, self-configured and self-healed, with the nodes in the network automatically establishing an ad hoc network and preserving the mesh connectivity. Due to the increasing interest on wireless mesh architectures, a new IEEE working group, 802.11s has recently created. The purpose of this working group is to standardize the architectures and protocols that support both broadcast/multicast and unicast delivery between Access Points (APs). In this paper, a detailed simulation based performance study and analysis is performed on the reactive routing protocols over such kind of networks. Ad Hoc OnDemand Distance Vector (AODV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Dynamic MANET On-demand (DYMO) routing protocol are considered as the representative of reactive routing protocols. The performance differentials are investigated using varying traffic load and number of source. Based on the simulation results, how the performance of each protocol can be improved is also recommended.
