ABSTRAK Proses finishing merupakan salah satu proses yang dilakukan di pabrik plasticizer dan bertujuan untuk mendapatkan hasil produk yang bebas dari pengotor. Pada proses ini digunakan steam distillation untuk memisahkan crude ester (produk) dari garam-garam hasil reaksi, sisa octanol, dan air. Selama ini di pabrik tersebut belum ada yang melakukan analisa jumlah stage secara teori pada kolom distilasi yang digunakan. Perhitungan jumlah stage diperoleh dari grafik menggunakan metode McCabe Thiele. Selanjutnya dibandingkan antara hasil secara teori dengan keadaan aktual pada pabrik. Jumlah stage pada kolom distilasi secara teoritis telah sesuai dengan kondisi aktual pabrik yaitu sebanyak 8 stage. Letak stage umpan secara teoritis pada stage ke-5 tetapi pada kondisi aktual di pabrik terletak pada stage pertama.
Prediksi Kesetimbangan Uap-Cair bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesetimbangan uap-cair sistem biner Tersier-Butanol + Isoamil Alkohol pada tekanan 101,3 kPa dan mengkorelasikan sistem biner tersebut dengan model Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC). Prediksi diawali dengan menentukan fraksi mol campuran biner tersier butanol + isoamil alkohol dengan menggunakan persamaan Hukum Raoult pada tekanan 101,3 kPa, dimana tekanan uap total campuran cairan biner tergantung pada tekanan uap komponen murni dan fraksi molnya dalam campuran. Kemudian, data kesetimbangan yang didapat dikorelasikan dengan perhitungan model Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC). Hasil prediksi dan korelasi menunjukkan hasil yang baik dikarenakan root mean square deviation (RMSD) dari hasil prediksi dan korelasi UNIQUAC diperoleh hasil yang relatif kecil. Parameter interaksi biner yang diperoleh dari hasil korelasi sangat berguna untuk optimasi kolom distilasi dalam proses pemurnian bioetanol.
